More about Britt Spagnola:

As digital trainer, Britt will support students learning new gear and software by offering 1:1 support and by creating a library of training materials to help students help themselves. Britt serves as a front-line resource in a unique student-first space referred to as the “digital lounge,” designed as the hub for digital certifications, hands-on instruction, and “beyond classroom” learning. This new initiative supports Newhouse’s mission to foster engaged digital citizenship and ensure students graduate with the technical fluency required in today’s media landscape. This role is all about students, providing support, mentorship, and practical training to help them succeed both in and out of the classroom. With a passion for emerging technologies and utilizing industry-standard software and production gear to elevate storytelling, Britt is eager to help students build real-world skills. Though new to the position, Britt has been involved with Newhouse since graduating with a master’s degree in photography in 2016. She also had previously developed and taught a production skills course to undergraduate students in the Television, Radio and Film program. With a B.A. in journalism from Stony Brook University, she also has the journalism background needed to support students across departments at Newhouse. She began her career as a community news reporter for Newsday on Long Island, worked as a video producer creating online classes at the Center for Digital and Online Learning on campus and as an independent contractor in the camera and post-production departments on local feature film, commercials and documentaries.
